  18. Windows NT fails to boot on a large hard disk drive.
  19.  
  20. CAUSE
  21. =====
  22.  
  23. The cause of this problem is that computer BIOS is reporting incorrect disk
  24. metrics during the boot process. Usually, these metrics are translated by
  25. the BIOS in real-mode. Windows NT does not receive these real-mode
  26. translations and subsequently is not able to access the hard disk drive
  27. properly.

  29. STATUS

  32. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT
  33. Advanced Server version 3.1. This problem was corrected in the latest U.S.
  34. Service Pack for Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. For
  35. information on obtaining the Service Pack, query on the following word in
  36. the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
